Imagine the thrill of a dolphin encounter in their natural habitat! Dolphin watching and snorkeling are two of the most popular things to do in Key West. This dolphin adventure allows you to combine the two — in a way that’s sensitive and safe for these beautifully intelligent wild creatures.
Key West Dolphin Watch and Snorkel: What to Look Forward To
Unlike other dolphin adventures, our Key West dolphins are not in captivity. The live free in the wild, where they belong, and we respect their status as wild animals. This eco tour allows you to responsibly watch dolphins from a safe distance as they gracefully swim, play, and feed. Our tours are designed to protect our local population of wild dolphins while allowing you to see them in their natural habitat.
As you make your way out to sea, the experienced crew and captain will share some fascinating and fun facts about the hundreds of wild bottlenose dolphins who make their home in the tropical turquoise waters off Key West.

Your tour boat participates in a unique program called “Dolphin SMART.” Created by conservation agencies including NOAA’s National Marine Sanctuary, the National Marine Fisheries Service, and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society, the SMART program reminds you to…
- S… Stay at least fifty yards away from wild dolphins.
- M… Move away slowly if dolphins seem disturbed.
- A… Always put your boat’s engine in neutral.
- R… Refrain from feeding, touching or swimming with dolphins.
- T… Teach others to be dolphin SMART.
After you’ve enjoyed your dolphin adventure, you’ll head to the third oldest wildlife refuge in the United States —
created by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908 — where you’ll snorkel in the warm, shallow Back Country waters. Not an expert swimmer? No worries — the crew will help you with your top-of-the-line snorkel gear including mask, fins, snorkel (and a float if you wish).
